Writing

The expectations for writing in grade 11 are very clear. Your writing needs to be organized, using your knowledge of form and style, applying knowledge of conventions and reflecting on skills and strategies. Near the beginning of the year my writing needed improvement. In one of my first essays my thoughts were not organized to their fullest potential, my transitions between ideas, points and paragraphs were not smooth and there were big differences between ideas and my closing was short and boring. Although I wrote my opening well, my sentence structures were well varied, my friendly tone was audience appropriate and my writing was logical.

"Overall The Complete Review is the better of the two reviews while paying attention to form because the writer used just enough rhetorical devices to make the review interesting. Not too little to make it poor writing but not too much to overwhelm the reader.''

At the end of the semester when I wrote my final essay Macbeth, I did much better. My essay was nicely organized, my transitions were better but still can use some work, but I bumped up my closing amazingly. My closing was quite lively, had some very strong sentences and a lot more writing.

"Macbeth meets his well-deserved fate. He loses the battle, and Macduff cuts off his head, silencing the beast within Macbeth whose hunger for ambition has now diminished. The three witches wished ill to Macbeth and wanted to cause harm to him and everyone around him. They looked deep into his heart and soul, and found a hidden greed which need only be tempted to be freed. The title of king has been given to Malcom whose heart has yet to be fooled by equivocation."

While doing our media unit, we learn how to understand texts. This helps us write our essays which are based off of different texts. We will write our essyas better if we understand what we are writing about.
