Listening and Oral Speaking

The expectations for listening and oral speaking are listening to understand, using speaking skills and strategies and reflecting on strengths and weaknesses as speakers. In grade 11 English we didn't do very many individual oral presentations. Although at the very beginning of the year we each had to present a rhetorical device. Mine was parallelism. Because that was my first presentation I was very nervous. I didn't speak very loudly, I didn't say a lot and I definitely could have done better.

Just recently I presented my speech on physician assisted suicide. I have improved a lot since the beginning of the year. I spoke loud and clear, I used emotion and tone in my voice and facial expression.

Reading helped improve my oral communication skills. When you read, you have to read fluently and when I read fluently I can speak fluently.
